Louisville, KY, June 26th-28th, 2015
Parallax Science Fiction Theatre Festival is about using
perspective to alter how theatre is experienced. We will be producing staged readings of short science fiction plays in cooperation with designers and technitians from backgrounds other than theatre. Performances will be accompanied by a special technical exhibit featuring designs and prototypes of orginal elements created by Makers for the plays. The idea for the festival comes from the scientific principle of parallax. Just as an object
seems entirely different when viewed from another angle, the ways that
we make and see theatre can change dramatically when we invite
collaborators from other disciplines to share their own vision.
Together, we can find new ways of creating science fiction on stage. The hope of this festival is to create an expanded culture of cooperation between the Maker and theatre community.
Parallax Science Fiction Theatre Festival is hosted by Here There Be
Monsters & Co.
The festival is organized by Bethany Morse, Christos Callow Jr., and
Carol Stewart.
